How Dabba Is Helping WeatherXM Expand In Emerging Markets

With rapid climate change, local weather data has become all the more critical for accurate weather forecasts. Especially, in developing economies and emerging markets where localized weather tracking infrastructure is almost non-existent, it is difficult and unpredictable for people to plan their day to day activities.

While at Dabba we are on a mission to bring super fast and super cheap internet to Indians, we are also helping WeatherXM expand their presence in the country by deploying WXM weather monitoring stations all over India on our DePIN network. A first of its kind, this partnership will bring the two projects together and help Indians get real time hyper-local weather data along with super fast WiFi Internet access.

Watch Dabba CEO Karam Lakshman explain how this partnership will not only help get localised and accurate weather data in India but also reward the community for participating.

Why Does This Matter?

The need for accurate, real-time localized weather data in India has never been greater, and centralized weather tracking systems are struggling to keep up. There are multiple reports that detail how India’s leading public agency for weather forecast, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) lacks when it comes to collecting localized weather data

These weather monitoring devices, powered by Dabba’s network and deployed by its  on-ground partners will:

  • Record real-time and hyper-local weather data like temperature, humidity, and rainfall.
  • Recorded weather data can be used to deliver hyper-localized insights to farmers, agro-businesses, and disaster management authorities.
  • Reward users for contributing unique data.

Karam Laxshman, CEO of Dabba Network, couldn’t have said it better:

“The increasing cost of critical infrastructure impedes India’s growth as the real impact of technological advancements is not received by those who need it the most. Decentralization is the future of critical infrastructure in a developing country like ours. Partnering with WeatherXM, Dabba is not only helping them expand but it will also make accurate weather data more accessible in a country where it is needed the most. This is a first-of-its-kind deployment in India.”

Hear it all from our CEO Karam Lakshman to know more about how Dabba’s layer-zero DePIN model is enabling WeatherXM expand in emerging markets.

How Is Dabba Helping WeatherXM Expand In India?

Dabba, as layer-zero DePIN is building the on-ground infrastructure to connect millions of Indians who still don’t have access to high speed internet. It already has a vast network of on-ground partners with active deployments.

For other DePINs like WeatherXM, Dabba makes it easy to expand with fast and seamless deployment in emerging markets. Here’s how Dabba is enabling WeatherXM:

  • With Dabba, WeatherXM benefits from our on-ground presence as we already have access to multiple locations across regions where Dabba Network hotspots are deployed. Dabba has identified strategic locations for deployment of weather monitoring devices in India.
  • Next, Dabba is leveraging its on-ground partner and user network to  ensure seamless deployment of WXM’s weather monitoring devices.
  • Dabba’s on-ground partners also help with maintenance of the deployed devices ensuring uninterrupted weather data collection. It also helps mitigate maintenance costs.

Dabba’s Marketing Director, Dawn explaining it from ground-zero in Islampur how this partnership can create a positive impact on the local agro-economies.

Effectively, Dabba’s layer-zero DePIN is not just facilitating but also fast-tracking WeatherXMs efforts to expand in emerging markets like India.

Commenting on the deployment strategy Dabba co-founder, Shubhendu Sharma explained: “Location-based strategic deployment of these weather stations is important to get constant, useful updates. While we’ve already identified such locations, we’re always on the lookout for areas where this technology can make the biggest difference. Over the next two months, we plan to deploy 800 WeatherXM devices across India.”

Dabba and WeatherXM coming together is more than just a technological collaboration—it’s also a step towards tackling the growing challenges of climate change. Helping WeatherXM expand its decentralized weather technology in India, we are indeed setting a precedent for how our layer-zero DePIN can enable other DePINs and how IoT can be harnessed to create real-world impact.
